June at Torbay Scrapstore: Sunshine & Stitching
Summer is officially on its way, the deckchairs are coming out and we’ve traded the spring blossoms for a June schedule that’s absolutely bursting with sunshine and creativity! Whether you want to learn a brand-new skill from scratch or finally give an old outfit a bit of love, we’ve got a seat at the table with your name on it.
Check out the flyers for the full schedule, but here’s a look at what’s coming up:
The Main Event: General Workshops & Creative Capers
Our Scrap book Club is back for those of you with piles of memories just waiting for a creative home. Speaking of things needing a bit of extra sparkle, we’re hosting a very special Project Prom Repair Shop Workshop with Charlie. It’s completely free and inclusive for all, so bring your prom outfits along to learn how to sew, repair, adjust the fit, or bling up your dress or suit!
Want to refresh your wardrobe? Come along to Upcycle Clothes using Embroidery, where you’ll learn how to add a cute hand-stitched picture to your favourite t-shirt or hoody using simple stitches. If you’re looking to create beautiful pieces for your home or a unique gift, come and try our Create & Connect – Button Wreath session, or join us for a hands-on evening of Decoupage to turn “waste” into one-of-a-kind keepsakes.
For the fabric lovers, we have the calming art of Slow Stitch fabric pictures and our Patchwork Club is back focusing on the therapeutic craft of English Paper Piecing. If you fancy trying your hand at something delightfully unique, don’t miss our Kinusaiga workshop—it’s a beautiful Japanese fabric art form where you create pictures by reusing fabric scraps, with absolutely zero sewing involved!
We also have a Clay Pinch Pots continued session for previous attendees to come back and decorate their dried pots. And you can let your imagination run wild at our Mosaic workshop, creating your very own colourful, custom design using glass, tiles, or ceramics.
(Oh, and keep your eyes peeled—we also have a daytime Create & Connect session scheduled with the exact theme to be confirmed very soon!)
Make & Mingle: For the 65+
Our Make & Mingle sessions are the absolute best excuse to get out of the house, meet new friends and have a proper chinwag in a supportive, uplifting space. These sessions are completely free for anyone aged 65 or over, including a lovely cup of tea and a laugh while getting stuck into something new.
This month, we’re dipping back into pottery to do some Clay Pot Painting to finish off our previous creations. Following that, we’ll be crafting gorgeous accessories with an Earring Making session, followed by a bright and cheerful Flower Making workshop.
We’re also setting up the easels for a relaxing morning of Painting. Finally, we’ll be getting beach-ready by crafting Shell Magnets, before finishing up the month’s schedule with a go at Kinusaiga fabric art. Crafting is calling! It would be rude not to answer.
The Important Bits
Most of our general workshops include barista coffee and cake, which we all know is the real fuel behind any great masterpiece. All resources are provided unless stated otherwise.
Booking is essential as places fill up fast! Give us a tinkle on 01803 392436 or pop in and see us at 6 Fore Street, St Marychurch, Torquay (TQ1 4NE) to secure your spot.

Fused Glass Wind Chimes – 2 Part
Wednesday, June 3rd & 10th, 2026 | 7pm – 9pm
Fused Glass Wind Chimes: A Two-Part Special!
Ready to try your hand at something a bit brilliant? Dive into our first-ever two-part fused glass workshop and craft a gorgeous wind chime that’s guaranteed to be the talk of your garden (or living room window, we won’t judge). Absolutely no previous experience is required—if you can dream it, you can make it!
Week 1 (The Creative Bit): Let your imagination run wild as you design your glass masterpieces. We’ll be playing with base glass, dots, puddles, frit and stringers to build up your design. Once you’re done, we’ll whisk your creations away to our kiln, heating things up to work their magic before the grand finale.
Week 2 (The Assembly Line): Time to bring it all together! You’ll assemble your masterpiece using a lovely piece of rustic wood as your hanger, sprinkling in some beads and hanging those gleaming glass pieces you created to make a chime that is utterly, uniquely yours.
Who needs store-bought when you can make something this lovely? Grab your seat before they all vanish!
Price: £45 per person.

Pyrography Wooden Box Workshop
Wednesday, June 24th, 2026 | 7pm – 9pm
Ever fancied playing with fire in the name of art? Now’s your chance! Discover the wonderful world of pyrography—which is just a fancy word for using heat to burn beautiful, decorative designs onto wood. This session is entirely beginner-friendly, so don’t panic if you’ve never held a burner before; we’ll show you exactly how to handle a solid-tip tool to make your very own wood-burned masterpiece.
Feel free to bring along your own sketch or design ideas, or simply choose from our lovely selection of ready-made templates when you arrive. You’ll use your new skills to decorate a gorgeous wooden box, leaving you with a beautiful keepsake perfect for hiding your secret stash of craft supplies (or biscuits). No prior skills needed—just bring your enthusiasm and we’ll supply the rest!
Price: £28 per person.
