April at Torbay Scrapstore: Where Creativity Flowers
This month we’re trading the umbrellas for glue sticks and needles with an April schedule designed to put a bit of spring in your step.
Check out the flyers for the full gossip, but here’s a look at what’s coming up:
The Main Event: General Workshops & Creative Capers
Our Scrap book Club is back for those of you with piles of memories just waiting for a home. If you’re looking to green up your space, come and learn Macrame to craft a trendy Plant hanger, or join us for Flower making where we’ll be creating beautiful hydrangeas from paper—much easier to keep alive than the real thing!
For the tech-curious, we’re trying Cyanotype Effect Printing and Monoprinting inspired by William Morris, plus a Slow stitch Square session for some mindful needlework. If you fancy a bit of “proper” art, the lovely folk from Sea View Studios are visiting to help us create elegant Wire Art Hearts. You can also get stuck into English Paper piecing, craft your own Mini notebook zine-style or get your hands dirty with some Clay pinch pots.
We’re also celebrating our planet with a special free session for Earth Day, making Origami Bunting out of scrappy bits of paper. It’s lovely, relaxed and very kind to the environment.
Make & Mingle: For the 65+
Our Make & Mingle sessions are the best excuse to get out of the house and have a proper chinwag. These sessions are completely free for anyone aged 65 or over. It’s a wonderfully welcoming space to share a laugh and a tea while getting stuck into something new. This month we’re getting fancy with Decoupage Shells, making Folded butterfly cards and crafting handy Gift Bags for those upcoming birthdays.
We’ll also be making Mini Notebooks, getting stuck into Clay pinch pots and joining the Earth Day celebrations by folding our own Origami Bunting. It’s a much more productive way to spend an afternoon than nodding off in front of Bargain Hunt for the third time this week.
The Important Bits: Most of our general workshops include barista coffee and cake, two things almost always guaranteed to brighten your day.
Booking is essential—give us a tinkle on 01803 392436, pop in and see us at the store or visit our website to secure your spot.

Wire Art Hearts Workshop
Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 | 7pm – 9pm
Forget wrestling with the garden fence—this is wire work with a much softer, “industrial-chic” touch. The pros from Sea View are popping in to show us how to wrangle flexible wire into elegant, intertwined hearts without the usual drama.
You’ll master the “gentle bend” and experiment with form and flow (while trying not to accidentally poke your neighbour!). With the addition of some twinkly coloured beads to make your design pop, you’ll leave with a bespoke hanging decoration that’s 100% your own creation. It’s fiddly in a good way, totally beginner-friendly and guaranteed to make your windows look smashing.
All materials provided.
Price: £26.50 per person.
